BYD has become the electric car name in Nepal, and for a reason: the lineup spans from a city hatch under 30 lakh to a flagship sedan past a crore, all through one authorised distributor, Cimex Nepal. The BYD EV price in Nepal moved recently — Cimex raised prices across major models by as much as NPR 3 lakh — so older lists you find elsewhere may understate what you will pay.
Current BYD price list
| Model | Body style | Indicative price (NPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Atto 1 | City hatchback | from 28,95,000 |
| Dolphin | Hatchback | from 41,15,000 |
| Atto 3 | Compact SUV | from 43,99,000 |
| M6 | 7-seat MPV | from 55,00,000 |
| Sealion 7 | SUV coupe | 72,99,000 |
| Seal | Flagship sedan | from 1,10,00,000 |
Which BYD fits which buyer
Atto 1 — the entry ticket. Under NPR 29 lakh, this is the cheapest route into a new electric car from a major brand in Nepal. City range, city size; ideal as a family’s second car or a valley commuter.
Dolphin — the value pick. At NPR 41.15 lakh it buys noticeably more range, cabin and refinement than the Atto 1 while staying well under the SUV premium. If your driving is mostly valley plus occasional highway, this is the rational choice.
Atto 3 — the default. Nepal’s EV market is an SUV market, and at NPR 43.99 lakh the Atto 3 is the model you see everywhere. Ground clearance and cabin space fit Nepali roads and Nepali families; resale familiarity is the hidden bonus.
M6 — the family hauler. Seven seats at NPR 55 lakh fills a slot petrol MPVs used to own. If the third row will actually be used, nothing electric near this price competes directly.
Sealion 7 and Seal — the statement cars. At NPR 72.99 lakh and 1.1 crore these compete on performance and presence. Buyers here are cross-shopping German badges, not other EVs.
The tax context (why these prices move)
Nepal’s EV import duties are revised in the annual budget, and each revision lands directly on sticker prices — it is the main reason BYD prices jumped recently and the reason no published list stays exact for long. Two practical consequences:
- A quoted price is only firm on a written quotation with a validity date.
- Timing matters. If a budget announcement is weeks away, ask the showroom directly how confirmed orders are protected against duty changes.
We track the policy side separately in our EV section.
Before you sign
- Variant clarity — “from” prices are base variants; battery size and features step up. Get the exact variant name on the quote.
- Battery warranty terms — years, kilometres and capacity-retention threshold, in writing.
- Home charging — confirm what charger ships with the car, installation cost, and whether your home supply needs an upgrade.
- Financing — EV auto loans differ from petrol-car loans in LTV terms, and hire-purchase agreements carry NRB’s caps on fees and penal interest — the same rules we detailed in our hire purchase guide.
- Service commitment — ask what is stocked in Nepal versus ordered, and typical wait times for body parts. The honest answer matters more than the brochure.

Why did BYD prices increase in Nepal? Distributor revisions tied to import-duty changes and cost movements — recent increases ran up to NPR 3 lakh on some models. It is also why price lists date quickly; ours was checked August 2026.
Is a BYD practical outside Kathmandu? Increasingly yes on the main corridors, with fast chargers along key highways — but plan around charging stops for hill routes. Range on climbs drops well below the rated figure.
The bottom line
The BYD EV price in Nepal now runs from NPR 28.95 lakh (Atto 1) through 43.99 lakh (Atto 3) to 1.1 crore (Seal). The Dolphin is the value pick, the Atto 3 the safe default, and every figure above should be re-confirmed on a dated quotation — this market’s prices move with the budget, not the calendar.
